Press Up, Down, Left, Down, Right, Up, Square on the mission mode screen.

Mission Mode
To unlock mission mode, beat the normal difficulty setting in story mode.

Difficulties
When you beat the game on any difficulty, you unlock a higher difficulty:
1. Hard: Beat the game on Normal
2. Master Ninja: Beat the game on Very Hard
3. Ninja Dog: Die 3 times
4. Very Hard: Beat the game on Hard

Extra Costumes
You can unlock Extra Costumes by beating the game on various difficulties:
1. Ashtar Ryu costume: Beat story mode on the Hard difficulty setting.
2. Classic Ryuken costume: Beat story mode on the Normal difficulty setting.

Golden Scarab Rewards
By collecting a certain amount of hidden Golden Scarabs, Muramasa (shop owner) will reward you with items and weapons that will help you in the game. There is a total of 50 Golden Scarabs in the game. Note: There are NO Golden Scarabs when playing as Rachel.
1. Armlet of Fortune: Collect 40 Golden Scarabs
2. Armlet of Potency: Collect 5 Golden Scarabs
3. Dabilahro: Collect 20 Golden Scarabs
4. Great Spirit Elixir: Collect 35 Golden Scarabs

Unlimited Yellow Essence (Chapter 7: The Monestry)
Just after you defeat all the zombies goto the save point known as the (Giant Fossil Area, save there and run back to the corridor you just ran through, and more of those spirates will come back.
I recommend using the Windmill Shirikin and wear the ribbon of wealth, this will nock your yellow essence up quite abit, if you repetedly do this you can make enough for your next upgrade.
I made about 50,000 yellow essence but not forgetting I did it for about 3 hr's. so enjoy.
